About Us
Buffalo Board Riders started with two mates, Nathan and Eddie, backpacking Vietnam in 2022 with no plan beyond adventure. We found tourism work and spent two years exploring back roads, quiet coastlines, and small towns most travellers never see. Being from Queensland, we always had our eyes on the water—and saw Vietnam's surfing potential. Problem was, the best waves were in remote spots only accessible by motorbike. After a tough year in tourism, we faced a choice: find new jobs, move back to Australia, or bet on ourselves. We chose the latter.

We surf anywhere between 30 minutes and 6 hours south of Hoi An, taking in the scenery of small fishing villages and communities untouched by tourism. In the mornings, we often have the waves to ourselves. By the afternoon, the beach comes alive with locals swimming and enjoying food with their families, it’s got a really fun, authentic vibe.
April - August, the beaches in central Hoi An are protected by the islands offshore, so they don’t get much swell. That’s why we head a little further south to spots that are more exposed to the waves, especially during surf season.
September to March is our main swell season, with waves ranging from 3 to 8 feet, great for intermediate surfers and those looking for more action. There are also plenty of beginner options.
April to August is calmer, making it ideal for beginners and longboarders. Sunny days, warm water and mellow waves.

Yes, for most tours and services, full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your spot, guide, and any equipment. This ensures we can provide the best experience for everyone.
We know plans can change. For cancellations made more than 48 hours before your tour start time, we offer a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable, as our guides and resources have been reserved exclusively for you. In cases of extreme weather that forces us to cancel, we will offer a full refund or the chance to reschedule.
